I almost expected to see dancing in the streets when the news got out: General Electric is moving its headquarters to downtown Boston. This Fortune 500 company (#8 on the list), with $149 Billion in revenue wants to become more of a technology and software company which fits very nicely in with Boston’s position as a world-class city for creating new, innovative products.
“Massachusetts spends more on research & development than any other region in the world, and Boston attracts a diverse, technologically-fluent workforce focused on solving challenges for the world,” GE CEO Jeff Immelt said in a statement. “We are excited to bring our headquarters to this dynamic and creative city.”
